I think the talker guy is right on the location. But, if it is a funeral, where's the body? Also, if the year is '89, I wonder if Colorado wouldn't have been paved by then?
I know we're facing east on Colorado because I recognize the building at the corner of Fair Oaks. But I have no idea what they're doing. Can't wait to find out.
I am having a hard time understanding that the picture is a view facing east along Colorado, but I may be wrong. Looking at the mountains in the background, I would suggest the view is facing north and the street is a North/South street, possibly Fair Oaks.
As to event, other than plagiarizing from Paul and saying it's Owen Browns funeral, I would also venture to guess that it's China's first float entry in the Rose Parade, but I could be wrong there also.
I figure if I keep saying the same thing week after week, evenutally I'll be right.
ReplyDeletePeople walking on colorado blvd when Pasadena was known as the Indiana Colony.
Darn it. I was going to say that too. Except I was going to say promenading, which sounds more gentile.
ReplyDeleteGiven the angle of the street and the mountains, I don't think it could be Colorado Blvd.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess Orange Grove. Not enough observers to be a parade. A funeral procession?
It's Colorado Street (Bouevard) approaching Fair Oaks Ave. I'd guess the event is Owen Brown's funeral in 1889.

ReplyDeleteI think it's re Owen Brown as well, but kinda late with that. Colorado is as good as any road.
ReplyDeleteI like Paul the Talker's guess.
ReplyDeleteShoot. The Brown Brother funeral is already taken.
ReplyDeleteMike could be right though. Certainly wouldn't be the first time he set me straight.
ReplyDeleteThe time period is about right, but maybe it's one of the early Memorial Day parades in Pasadena. Back when it was Decoration Day.
How many guesses to I get?
Paul
1 guess, I guess...
ReplyDeleteAnd, previous winners are excluded from the next contest so us losers can have a chance at this game, per Pasadena City Code, I guess!!
I guess 2 centuries ago they had the same controversies as now about "but, where's the body?" & "Owen Brown Lives!"

I apologize. I'm incorrect. I meant to say we're facing west.
ReplyDeleteThink we're facing North/South as well. Fair Oaks was by 1st impulse
