Where are you? Looks like the Colorado St Bridge. What's happening? People crossing the bridge by old car. Others crossing by foot, or perhaps preparing to take a leap of faith. 1913, or at least back in the last century.
Celebrating the coming of the new year with the Horseless Carriage club (Jay Leno in lead car) as they cross over Suicide (to me) Colorado (to you) bridge.
I was thinking the same thing as Palm Axis. These are the first cars to cross the newly opened Colorado Street Bridge during the opening day celebration.
Judging by the cars and clothes, I am going to say it is later than 1913. My guess is it is 1920 and this is a scene from Charlie Chaplin's film "The Kid", which introduced the world's first major kid star, Jackie Coogan, Coogan was known later in life for playing Uncle Fester on "The Addams Family" TV series. I know they shot a scene on the bridge. I have seen stills of that.
Colorado Street Bridge (yeah, yeah, everybody knows that already), but it is not the opening because I think it would be really festive looking for that. It is a road club driving tour hosted by the early AAA.
Yeah, it's true, it probably would be more festive if it were the grand opening. How about they're crossing the bridge to get to Figueroa to go a new way to downtown LA?
