I made it to the entrance of the Great Wall and could go no further, but others in our delegation did. So I'm borrowing some photos in hopes that you'll get the full flavor of the place.

Where are the tourist?
In answer to your question "Where are the tourists," this was on our first day in China. Our plane landed in Beijing at about 5:30 a.m. and it was way too early to check into the hotel, so we went to the Great Wall. There were very few people there at 8 a.m., which was great!
Note to self: get to Great Wall early.
