Was owned by Carrie McAdoo, widow of Booker. This is basically across from Huntington Hosp.
They emigrated from Arkansaw to SoCal/Pas for, not Gold, but health reasons - one Big reason why we became the most populated state in the USA!
Booker the husband had TB. He also worked in a masseuse & bath house A connection? You tell me. But her husband died 1st, an unequality which still exists today! With her newfound free time, Carrie opened a bakery/grocery business.
That is a very cool photo, but I haven't a clue where it is or what's happening. Can't wait to find out.
ReplyDeleteTo me, that looks like that little grocery store way up on Allen--or is it Hill. And people are enjoying an icy cold Coca-Cola way back when.
