Pumping In for "Outlaw"

Some scenes for the new NBC series "Outlaw" were shot at Pasadena City Hall this week, with interiors in the Council Chamber on the second floor and exteriors in corridors and the grand entrance.

City Hall portrayed a federal courthouse in Mexico. If you saw a lot of police officers in non-Pasadena uniforms, they were actors and extras, and the weapons were strictly props.

Here's what the backdrop in the Council Chamber looked like (note the blue duct as well).

Filming is now complete, and today crews are putting everything back the way they found it.

See our upcoming filming calendar here.

The exterior photo was shot by the mighty Zack Stromberg of the Public Affairs Office; the interior shot was taken by City Manager Michael J. Beck.

Your Property in a Starring Role

Pasadena homes and landmarks have been featured in many movies, from "Gone with the Wind" to "Changeling."

In the photo above, "Changeling" director Clint Eastwood and the film's star, Angelina Jolie, take a break during filming in the courtyard at Pasadena City Hall.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you: A residence on South Oakland Avenue will be the site of some scenes for the film "G-Force" on Jan. 9; and a residence on South Oak Knoll Avenue will be the site of some scenes for a remake of the movie "Fame" the week of Jan. 23.

Pasadena properties have also starred in countless TV programs, from "Batman" to "American Idol." (If you're an "Idol" fan, when the finalists go to Hollywood for the first few weeks of competition and elimination, it's actually the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.)

Your property could be the next star of TV or film with help from our Film Office. The team, led by Ariel Penn, maintains an online database of locations that has become a popular spot for industry scouts looking for that perfect home, bridge, warehouse, office building and more.

Turning your home over to Hollywood pros gives you something to tell friends and family about, plus you could earn an average of $5,000 a day in tax-free income. (Best of all, the first 14 days of rental income are exempt from federal and state taxes!)

You can learn more by going to this page on the city website and clicking on the orange buttons on the left side of the page.

Eli Stone Shot at City Hall

For all of you "Eli Stone" fans, yesterday Pasadena City Hall was the setting for a full day of production on the series. Our beautiful building doubled as a San Francisco courthouse, and in addition the north side of the building starred as a building in Washington, D.C.

As always with filming here, staff and visitors walking through the corridors or the courtyard had to stop and wait from time to time, but we're used to that by now. It's fun to see the goings on, plus it's remarkable to watch the dozens and dozens of crew people behind the scenes who make a location shoot possible.

We weren't allowed to take photos so you'll have to have to watch the new season this fall to see our most famous local landmark. (Occasionally when there's a shoot here, a passerby takes photos and posts them on Flikr or some other shared site, but I couldn't find anything for this one.)

Ariel Penn and her staff in our filming office work very hard with location scouts and other industry professionals to attract and promote filming in Pasadena. Do you think your property could be a star? Learn more here.
