It looks like they're clearing land for something big. PCC or CalTech perhaps?

My guess (and it is a guess) is that it the initial clearing of land for the Green Hotel on Raymond street. The view is looking East Northeast.

My guess (and it's a guess) is they're clearing land for the new public library building at Walnut and Garfield.

It could be Hotel Green, but I think there was more already developed in that area by the time the hotel was being built.

The PIO warned us the ez mystery pics wood soon be over. If anyone gets this, he (she??) will be only one.

I'll only say it could be a brunch of things. But, I think it's about something happening in the 1930's. Maybe even the 20s!

The use of a steam shovel makes 1947 probably out of the question. I think it has something to do with the Ambassador campus... maybe the Fowler Garden?

Ah, the gardens, fountains, and the Merritt manse!
