For one crazy moment I thought it might have been the start of the California State lottery in 1984, and that plane's dropping free lottery tickets. But then I thought no, they'd never drop free tickets.
I'm looking at this on my laptop and it's so small! It looks like there's some kind of white sheet in front of the building. I wonder what that has to do with everything. But I defer to Susan.
If this is the 100th anniversary... it brings back great memories.
I was involved in creating the 1986 City Hall cake; Bill Podley sponsored it, and Takes the Cake made it. I still have photos of him somewhere, icing the cake for the TV cameras...

It's 1986 and the City of Pasadena is celebrating its 100-year anniversary.
Well, you're in front of City Hall (duh), and someone dropped something out of a plane. Hummmm. the real question is, who had to clean it up?

Yup, Susan. Did you see there's going to be a celebration at Pasadena History Museum, with a giant and edible City Hall cake?

I'll bet Susan's right because the city celebrates its 124th birthday this weekend.
This is the 1974 city portrait at city hall...celebrating the 100th anniversary of becoming a city (April 1874)...
Or it's the big cake story. ;-)
