My Roof

During the hurricane-force windstorms last week, aside from the fact that everything got blown all over the place (including onto and off of my property), I lost most of the shingles on my roof and it's buckled near the chimney.

It looks like someplace on Tobacco Road!

Thank goodness there's no rain in the immediate forecast.

The insurance adjuster is coming on Monday.

I still haven't found the porch rocking chairs. They're literally gone with the wind. And there's debris from other properties on my porch and in the yard. I'll get to cleanup duties this weekend. Thank God for great neighbors.

Like so many at the City of Pasadena, I've been pretty crazed since the Wednesday and Thursday windstorms.

I had absolutely no time to do a Mystery History posting this week. Hopefully I can do one next Tuesday.

Bear with me!

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to see that. Hope your adjuster comes quickly and helps you get back to normal.

Hope u have a prompt response insurance company, PIO. But you're house does look now like it's ready for its Halloween decorations.

And don't worry if you can't make Mys Hist every week. Don't overstress.

Who knew we needed to put a return address on our outdoor furniture? I'll watch for your rockers on the back of milk cartons. They may return eventually.

You got trounced. I think I see your rocking chair hanging down from the top branch of your neighbors sycamore tree

Uhoh, and now we're expecting rain Monday. Don't hesitate to ask if you need help with that roof. Probably shouldn't ask me, though. I'll help with groceries or something...

Sheesh, Ann. I guess the old 'hood got battered. I hope you and your roof are okay.

From the looks of your roof, I can tell that it was a very strong hurricane/windstorm! I've never experienced anything like that. Good thing you have insurance to cover for your losses.

The aftermath of a windstorm, really, is a lot of work – cleaning, fixing, and even searching. I hope you’ll be able to locate your lost property. It must’ve been pretty rough back there. Your roof definitely needs repair or, possibly, replacement. Consult your local professional roofer so you can get an accurate cost estimate.

Windstorms can truly be troublesome. The strong winds can be enough to throw away anything. Good thing your roof was insured. The damage is awful, but the insurance claim can help fix the problem. Better get that roof fixed before another windstorm comes.

Sorry to hear about your roof, weather can really be troublesome to the house sometimes, especially to the parts of the roof. Based on your photo, the windstorm really left a devastating effect in your neighborhood. Just look at the bright side, your roof did not get totally blown away. Otherwise the inside of your house will be exposed, and you’ll never know what the storm will bring that can further damage your home.

Oh, that’s why we should always be ready for unexpected calamities. Sorry to hear about what happened to your roof. But the good thing is you were insured it, and I guess the insurance company was able to replace your roof quickly. I’m glad that you were all safe during that incident.
